Skyforge Drift beginner guide
Build the Wren, learn to feather the trim instead of holding it, and save Embers for Rare parts. Those three habits carry you to pilot level 12.
Contents
Which ship to build first
Take the Wren. It is the only starter in A tier on the ship tier list, and its light hull forgives clumsy drifts.
- The Gullwing is faster in a straight line but loses the race in corners.
- The Pelican is a hauler; leave it for cargo contracts later.
How drifting and trim work
Holding trim through a whole corner bleeds speed. Tap it twice: once on entry, once at the apex. The wake trail turns orange when the angle is right.
- Ease off the throttle before the gate.
- Tap trim and steer into the wind.
- Tap again at the apex and boost out.
Spend Embers on parts, not paint
Embers buy both cosmetics and Rare parts. The two S tier ships need 6 Rare parts, so every paint job delays your first S tier build by about a day of play. Grab the free Embers from active codes first.
Unlock crafting fast
Crafting opens at the end of story chapter 1. Skip optional races until then; chapter 1 takes about 40 minutes and also unlocks the Ox.
When to start ranked
Play one placement race on day one so your season 1 rank is seeded, then wait until you have a ship in A tier or better. The season clock shows when the ladder resets.
FAQ

Ship tier list
The Halcyon and the Ironjaw are the two S tier ships after patch 0.9.2. Starters should build the Wren first: it is A tier and costs no rare parts.
Fuel calculator
Enter the route length and your ship: the calculator shows fuel cells to load and the Ember profit after fuel. A headwind adds 25%.
